Since its creation in 1998, the annual production of The Nutcracker, featuring the Donetsk Ballet from Ukraine along with our school’s ballet students, has served as a fundraiser for pediatric cancer research, care, and treatment. While entertaining the community with this traditional ballet favorite, JulieDance endeavors to foster recognition and financial assistance to help champion the fight against pediatric cancer, the leading cause of disease-related death among children. To date, JulieDance has donated $530,000 to hospitals and organizations in support of this important cause.
In each of the past 6 years, JulieDance has sponsored a trip for cancer-inflicted children and their families to see a favorite family musical presented on Broadway or at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn. Cinderella, Lion King, Aladdin, Matilda, Mary Poppins, Annie and Beauty, and the Beast are among show trips that provided great excitement and joy for children and their families away from the stress and hardships they are undergoing. Currently, arrangements have been made for approximately 70 families to see Paper Mill Playhouse’s production of Cinderella this December.
In support of this mission and contributing immeasurably to its success since 1998, are several thousand students and family members. Numerous teachers have contributed significantly over the years with tireless dedication and sacrifice. So, too, have countless donors and volunteers who have been so generous with their time.and financial assistance
With regard to our students and families, JulieDance enables many children to experience the excitement of participating in The Nutcracker, performing and pleasing audiences with the Donestk ballet and Adelphi Orchestra, to recognize the value of helping others, and to create lasting memories with their classmates, family, friends, and teachers.
